Moving levels from MEE6 without resetting everyone.
The fear that stops people leaving MEE6 is losing years of levels. An XP import solves that, so it is worth checking what carries over before you switch.
What an XP import carries over
An import carries a member and a total XP, or a member and a total message count, depending on the export. That is enough to keep ranks, leaderboards and level roles continuous, because those all derive from total XP.
It does not carry the old bot's history: no record of which message earned which point, no import of its settings, no transfer of moderation history, and no transfer of anything the old bot sold.
| What moves | What does not |
|---|---|
| Each member's total XP or message count | The old bot's level curve and multiplier settings |
| The resulting level and leaderboard position | Moderation history, warns and mutes |
| Eligibility for level-gated roles | The old bot's ticket history |
| Voice XP totals, if included in the export | Custom command or role menu configuration |
How to do it in Nemesis
/importxp takes a MEE6 export, an Arcane export, or a plain CSV of member id and XP. Run it once with the file, check the summary it reports, and the leaderboard reflects the imported totals immediately. Members do not need to do anything and do not get a notification flood.
- Export your data from the old bot first, then run /importxp with that file.
- A CSV needs one row per member with the member id and the XP value.
- Run it before you turn on level roles, so roles are granted to the imported totals.
- Keep the export file until you have confirmed the leaderboard matches.
After the import
Set the level curve and role rewards you want. If you imported from a bot with a different curve, the same total XP will land on a different level, so check the top of your leaderboard and adjust before announcing anything. Run both bots for a week if you want to compare numbers, then turn off the old one so members are not earning XP twice.
Common questions
Does /importxp work with any bot?
It reads a MEE6 export, an Arcane export, or a CSV you produce yourself. For another bot, export to CSV with member id and XP.
Will importing create duplicate XP?
Import sets totals from the file. If you also keep the old bot running, members will earn XP in both, so switch the old one off once you are satisfied.
Does the import cost anything?
No. XP and leveling are on the free plan in Nemesis, and /importxp is part of that module.
Try it on one server.
The free plan does not expire and does not ask for a card.
